The service contract was awarded within the programme Strengthening resilience for refugees, IDPs and host communities in Eastern Sudan (SDN13), implemented by AICS Sudan and funded within the MultiDonor Trust Fund – Horn of Africa.

The overall objective of the project is to improve the living conditions of refugees, IDPs and host communities and to address the root causes of irregular and forced migration. The specific objective is to is to strengthen the local health systems to better deliver basic packages of health services in selected areas of Eastern Sudan, with the final aim of creating a more conducive and sustainable living environment for host communities, displaced populations and refugees.

The purpose of the support is to improve the quality of the relevant data and information, either within the project or at the health facilities that are beneficiaries of the project, for the Project Management Unit: 1. to take prompt initiative to ensure the smooth implementation of the project and to improve the quality of the reports produced, and 2. to verify that the data provided by the health facilities supported, especially those referring to maternal and child care, are accurate.

The following are the results achieved at the end of the contract:

  • The Health Management Information System in place in Gedaref is improved (pilot) and allows the preparation of accurate reports, especially with reference to the maternal and child care.
  • The external accountability of SDN13 (and of AICS Khartoum at large) is enhanced, thanks to the organisation of opportunities for sharing the key project achievements (e.g. researches, project outcomes, project learning etc.) with key stakeholders.
