Sustainable models of active mobility in Milan

PuntoSud selected, funded and promoted 4 projects that dealt with creating a new culture of active mobility through sustainable models, and increasing involvement and participation of citizens with particular attention to the needs of people in vulnerable situations, women and children, to people with disabilities and the elderly.

The initiative, part of the European project NOPLANETB, aimed at making citizenship informed and sensitized: citizens were not only educated on the correct way to benefit from sustainable mobility, but also involved in the reformulation of their habits and listened to resolve any problems arising from the alternatives proposed.

PuntoSud funded 4 projects that achieved the following results:

  1. Raising awareness about the effects of the different means of transport in the city of Milan, starting with the most common habits: pedestrian traffic, using local public transport, cycling and the use of private cars.
  2. Creating a virtuous mechanism to spread knowledge of the culture of the bicycle, of cyclomechanics (bike care and maintenance).
  3. Supporting more and more people in choosing the bicycle as a privileged means of transport around Milan.
  4. Activating private social subjects area that become nodes of network of training, promotion and access to the use of bicycles.
  5. Increasing bicycle as way of transport from home to primary schools.
