Educational inclusion of vulnerable students in the city of Genoa

Dimensione L’UDA is a 3-year project, co-founded by Impresa Sociale Con I Bambini, leaded by Coop. Soc. Il Ce.Sto. It pursues the scholastic inclusion of vulnerable students from the disadvantaged areas of Genova metropolitan city through Learning Teaching Units – UDA, implemented by the project to impact on pupils’ knowledge and competence. Within the project, PuntoSud promotes an impact study.

Dimensione L’UDA is a 3-year project, co-funded by Impresa Sociale Con I Bambini, run by 12 partners acting in the Genova area, leaded by Cooperativa Sociale Il Ce.Sto. It pursues the scholastic inclusion of vulnerable students in particularly from the disadvantaged areas of Genova metropolitan city.

It is based on the fundamental postulate that inclusion is facilitated by the increase of knowledge and competence levels of the students in the transition between the 1st and 2nd scholastic cycle (pre-adolescents). To this end it provides for the definition and administration of a batch of Learning Teaching Units – UDA elaborated by a Scientific Committee, consistent with schools’ program, equipped with cutting-edge technology and tools, contextualised in the territory of reference.

A plausible perspective of continuity and sustainability of the project is promoted through specific trainings of teachers and other actors of the educating community and the opening of the area to the public.

PuntoSud is mainly dedicated to assure the project implementers with an impact study. The exercise is organized in 3 moments: initial, at the project end, and 2 years after the activities’ conclusion. The evaluation system focuses on the UDA and in detecting pupils’ interest and confidence increase vs the school, the maintenance of mechanisms activated at intervention end by schools and the conditions in respect of which pupils’ enrolment to the secondary school are facilitated also thanks to project activities’ promotion.

PuntoSud is engaged to develop tools for the detection of results in order to ensure a system for collecting the priority information (output and outcome quantitative data collection).

A complementary work of collecting qualitative information related to project implementation is promoted (deviation from the plan, criticality, strengths, opportunities). PuntoSud contributed in supporting the project leader in the finalization of the monitoring system.
