Financial support for civil society organisations

Strengthening those who work on the ground

Small organisations, many ideas, great results.

Over the last thirty years, we have witnessed an undeniable crisis in democratic systems. This is characterised by a reduced capacity to alleviate social inequalities and a growing weakening of public institutions, not only in the countries of the “North.” This has led to increasing difficulties in contributing to a stable system of international governance.

In this context, the democratic values enshrined in European treaties have gained greater visibility. However, they are often called into question and relegated to the background in favour of economic priorities. As we know, this leads to harsh political conflicts, turning these values into a subject of divisive disputes. This undermines the fundamental role these principles play in building more cohesive and sustainable societies.

We work with conviction to recognise the role of small organisations in Italy, Europe, and worldwide as “connectors” for inclusive and sustainable territorial development, capable of activating concrete and participatory solutions.

We do not propose a single management model. Our core belief is that organisations should move and progress in the direction they themselves desire, by simply “doing what they know how to do.”

More than just funding: a shared journey

PuntoSud has gained significant experience in managing funds for civil society, covering various roles over time – project leader, operational partner, external evaluator and field trainer. We have managed a total of over €11 million, funded 356 projects (with another 336 in the start-up phase) and collaborated with public and private partners on four continents and in more than 50 countries.

This experience translates into concrete initiatives with a strong local impact. Our approach to financial support combines economic contributions and organisational strengthening so that each funded project has a solid foundation and produces lasting results. In concrete terms, each grant is accompanied by field trainings (through the PuntoSud Academy)and monitoring and evaluation (through the expertise of our Evaluation Lab), ensuring impact, transparency and learning at all stages.

Our approach

We create tailor-made, accessible and flexible cascade funding schemes to respond to the real needs of civil society actors.

We offer capacity-building courses to unlock management, organisational and project skills, supporting the growth of organisations and their teams.

We provide tools and support for monitoring and evaluation, making data collection and its use an opportunity for learning and continuous improvement.

We build strategic partnerships that go beyond simply providing funds: we support organisations at all stages, promoting collaborative networks and continuous training.

Financial support – PROJECTS

MAPS

Migration and Displacement Action Plan for sub-Saharan Africa
