Actions for the planet and ecological transition

An initiative to turn ideas into action

From the urgency of sustainability to collaboration for a better future.

The ecological and climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time. Unfortunately, the debate around this issue often appears uncertain, divisive, and drowned out by background noise that offers little hope for greater public attention.

Even climate science is at times viewed with suspicion, especially by those who attribute the climate crisis to supposed strategies of control or manipulation by powerful interests and who invoke “freedom” in absolute terms: free even from science.

Arising from the spontaneous commitment of people at PuntoSud working for environmental protection, in 2016 we created NOPLANETB: an initiative designed to harness local resources and networks to develop projects addressing the ecological and climate crisis, with a strong focus on inclusiveness and a strong effort to engage all actors – citizens, less-involved organisations, activists, civil society actors, businesses and public institutions – in Italy, across Europe, and worldwide.

NOPLANETB: what it really means to take action for the climate

The underlying idea is that many interesting and promising initiatives do not fully develop due to a lack of connections, skills, funding, or effective communication strategies.

This is why the NOPLANETB model is straightforward: to build partnerships, mobilise resources, coordinate and finance collaborative pathways that raise awareness and offer immediate responses.

This takes place both by securing targeted funds (such as grants or services) and by participating in calls for proposals as a lead applicant or partner.

NOPLANETB is also a European network with active partners in seven countries and takes part in the ASviS working groups in Italy as an associate organisation.

Our approach

We support small and medium-sized civil society organisations rooted in local communities, which are often excluded from traditional circuits. We accompany and finance them with tailor-made calls for proposals and capacity-building programmes to amplify their impact in the ecological transition.

We co-design environmental initiatives with high social and cultural value with companies committed to the local area. We promote concrete actions and effective communication to integrate sustainability and shared responsibility.

We support donors in making funds accessible to local organisations. We offer assistance with procedures, monitoring and reporting, facilitating transparent and impact-oriented management.

Our method applied

NOPLANETB is a CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION PROGRAMME co-funded by the European Union through the DEAR programme, with PuntoSud as the lead organisation. In Italy, it is supported by Fondazione Cariplo.

The aim is to select 210 small civil society organisations and provide them with financial support and capacity building to promote nature-based solutions and just transition policies.

Rural Voices 2030 is a European project that aims to involve young people in rural areas in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on gender equality (SDG 5) and soil protection.

Through educational activities, events and campaigns, the project aims to raise awareness in rural communities about the importance of environmental sustainability and social inclusion.
