Project objectives

Access to services is an important, though not the only one, aspect of immigrant's integration in our society. Immigrants' participation in society through their engagement in associations and in common endeavours contributes to their integration as active citizens as well.

Through the project we aim to improve our knowledge of immigrants association's life in local community, their activities, their ability to offer solutions to immigrant's problem in integration, the quality of their relationships with political referents, local NGO's, civil society's bodies and their country of origin.

Starting from studying local realities in all countries partners, our purpose is to exchange this knowledge and best practices, to compare and outline new models of intervention, and finally to set up a dialogue with politic referents in order to promote support actions for immigrant's associations and their active involvement in defining integration strategies by networking at all levels.

Research on best practices of co-development

The research work prefigured by punto.sud wishes to integrate the survey conducted by the partners on migrant associationism in 5 European contexts. The partners analysed some best practices relating to transnational activities of co-development that have been realized by immigrants in the hosting European countries.

For what concern the objectives and the methodology, the research will then be closely linked by other partners' survey work. The factor of co-development is intended to be an additional value, as it embodies an element of innovation which is still often excluded within participation, integration and development processes of immigrant communities.

The purposes of the work are :

• To strengthen the knowledge on Europe-wise co-development practices trough a study on existing best practices (local agencies, third sector, associations/NGOs). The aim is to make the subjects that are engaged in the migrant integration processes aware of the value/innovation of the transnational factor within the immigrant communities' integration and self-organization processes.

• To strengthen the immigrant community capacity of giving life to collective actions for development for the country of origin. To strengthen as well the capacity of autonomous self planning and project managing.
