This training provides a generalist and strategic approach to humanitarian protection work, using many practical examples and case studies. It offers an overview of the international standards for civilian protection, how they can be used by humanitarian organizations and which are the key players. Furthermore, it provides the basic elements to design an integrated protection intervention and to properly include protection elements in the project cycle management.
To provide a comprehensive introduction on the application of humanitarian protection principles from a non-specialist perspective.
At the end of this course participants will:
- Handle the main concepts of protection (the Risk Approach) with a specific focus on the DG ECHO policy on protection;
- Know how to analyze and identify the main stakeholders in protection in a given scenario;
- Feel confident in the management of the full project cycle according to the DG ECHO policy on protection.
3-day training module to enhance the participants’ capacity on humanitarian protection.
Target group and prerequisites
The course is designed for DG ECHO partners’ staff (mainly at field level, but also open to HQ staff id desired), in particular for those with operational responsibilities, programme managers and monitoring and evaluation officers.
