Europeaid development partners

EuropeAid closely coordinates its activities with the national parliaments of the European Union. This ensures that activities at the EU and national level complement each other, avoids duplication of efforts, and boosts efficiency and effectiveness of the aid delivered.

EuropeAid also works with a range of international organisations each of which has its own complementary global network and areas of expertise which can be of great benefit when delivering, managing and monitoring EU development assistance. EuropeAid works with the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank, among others.

Besides the DG DEV and RELEX, EuropeAid works closely with other EU institutions concerned with development or international trade, the European Parliament, the Court of Auditors, and the Council of Ministers. The latter fixes the policy framework in which EuropeAid operates and together with the Parliament co-decides the Union's budget for the external assistance programmes which EuropeAid manages. The Council also supervises the policy areas which affect or are affected by development aid.

Civil society organisations, both in Europe and in developing countries, are among EuropeAid’s most frequent partners. The role of non-state actors is complementary to that of the State, and their participation is seen by EuropeAid as one of the fundamental principles of the development and cooperation process.
